Creature from the Black Lagoon Remake Creature ConceptsPosted by: MacReadyWe just got some nice images for the upcoming remake of Jack Arnold's 1954 classic "Creature from the Black Lagoon", which will be directed by Breck Eisner. This remake is in the works for ages now. Even John Carpenter once was involved. Now it seems that Universal is putting it back on the fast track again. Our good buddie and FX Guru Vincent Guastini from Vincent Guastini Productions sent us 5 images of concept arts for the new version. They look really cool and i just can't wait to see the monster back in action. Be sure to check out the images below, and read on for what Vincent has to say about them.
According to Vincent “At this moment, I have some idea which direction there going in, but as of now, it’s still ongoing and we’ll have to see what the outcome of this will be. These are my ideas that are both traditional and freshened up, without destroying the classic original. We also did a version that was an exact replica of the original creature as a model to give them a full idea where we are going from, and what improvements we can make and the possibilities of what the Creature could look like. Whatever happens I feel very confident that whichever direction Universal goes in will be the right one.”
In the original movie Scientists drug and capture the creature, who becomes enamored with the head scientist's female assistant. The lonely creature, "a living amphibious missing link," escapes and kidnaps the object of his affection. The Chief scientist then launches a crusade to rescue his assistant ans cast the ominous creature back to the depths from where he came.
