Polish footballers stranded in the Faroe Islands. Change of staff plans on Saturday

Due to the Polish national football team’s departure from the Faroe Islands being postponed by one day, the team’s match schedule for Saturday has also been changed. The press conference and training in Warsaw will be postponed more than two hours after the scheduled arrival that day.

The Whites and Reds, following their 2-0 win over the hosts in Thorshavn in a Euro 2024 qualifier on Thursday, were scheduled to travel to Warsaw on Friday afternoon. But this did not happen – mainly due to difficult weather conditions Very strong winds and heavy rain, the trip was postponed to Saturday.

It is certain that the Polish national team’s plan on Saturday at the PGE National Stadium in Warsaw will change, as on Sunday it will face Moldova in another match for the qualification points.

Originally, Michel Proppers’ team was supposed to hold a press conference and train before Moldova’s national team on Saturday, but in the end it will be the opposite.

The visiting team’s conference is scheduled to be held at 5:30 p.m., and practice at 6 p.m.

Only then white and red will start their activity. in. At 6:30 p.m., there will be a press conference with the participation of Probers coach and goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny. At 7:15 p.m., the Whites and Reds will begin practice.

The Polish national team will play another qualifying match on Sunday. At 8:45pm they will face Moldova in Warsaw.

Poland beat the Faroe Islands on Thursday, 2-0. The goals of the Whites and Reds were scored by: Sebastian Szymanski (minute 4) and Adam Busca (minute 65). The hosts played with ten players since the 49th minute.

Thanks to the victory, Probers ended the series of terrible coaches in recent decades. In 26 years, no coach has won on his debut with the Polish national team. The previous one was Janusz Wojcik in 1997.

For us, the most important thing was three points to think realistically about promotion. It worked. We scored a goal early. We wanted to continue playing attackingly, but there were some nerves. It was clear that we felt a little bad on that surface. All thanks to the players for showing their good side. We were able to keep the ball and create more chances – stressed Michel Probers in the post-match press conference.

We started the second half very well. This is a difficult moment when the opponent receives a red card. There’s a bit of a lack of concentration – it’s supposed to be easier to play when you have an advantage. But we knew the Faroe Islands would focus on long balls from then on. We have substituted Matty Cash and Arik Milik so that they do not receive a second yellow card. Because it was easy to make a mistake on this pitch. Then we scored the second goal and controlled the match 100%. Congratulations to the players and now we prepare for Sunday’s match against Moldova – added.
