Afghanistan: Taliban angry at US for destroying military equipment

The US military said that the equipment left by the Americans includes 27 Humvees and 73 flying units (without specifying whether they are helicopters or planes). However, at least some of them are no longer usable or even repairable.

At the Kabul airport, the correspondent of the Qatari channel Al-Jazeera spoke to the Taliban. According to her, the Taliban expected the Americans to leave their military equipment in good condition.

– It’s national property. Now we are the government and this equipment will be of great use to us, a Taliban member told a journalist.

The Americans stressed that the Taliban would not be able to fly the helicopters they left behind. However, on the network there were recordings showing Afghan fighters using these machines. The US forces also left, among other things, the automatic rifles, night vision devices and camouflage uniforms currently in use by the Taliban.
