In an interview published on Friday in the newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza, the head of the Ministry of Health pointed out, among other things: the National Oncology Network (KSO). As she pointed out, PLN 130 million was spent on the KSO pilot project, “and the results of it were published, after major disagreements, only in October.” She said that the House of Representatives adopted the law half a year ago, without knowing the results of the pilot study at all.
Leszczyna agreed that the KSO law “has many shortcomings,” and at the same time stressed that the regulation will be improved to ensure as much rapid availability as possible of oncology diagnostics and treatment of the highest quality.

– But we will not throw the act on the oncological network into the trash, because the network is required and is included in the KPO – she confirmed. She added that in order to improve the law, the entry into force of many of its articles was postponed.
– Otherwise, more than 7,000. Patients being treated today in hospitals that do not meet the network’s standards will remain at sea overnight, without receiving treatment. In cooperation with experts, doctors and oncology practitioners, we will develop a really good level of care for oncology patients, because the networks exist in France and Great Britain and work well. We also need to provide a legal basis for the electronic DiLO card. She noted that the law does not currently provide for such a solution.

When asked what would happen to the medical fund, she said, “This fund represents a big misunderstanding.” – We have a law on health spending in relation to GDP, and even if the Medical Fund is not created, the state budget will still have to add the PLN 4 billion currently allocated to the Medical Fund to our contributions to the National Health Fund. She said they deserve health care like dog soup, without anyone's mercy.
The head of the Ministry of Health also noted that emergency departments of small hospitals will soon receive, thanks to former Health Minister Adam Niedzielski, “big millions for modernization” from the Medical Fund. Speaking to “GW,” she also recalled one of her interviews in which she said, “There is no benefit in having an emergency department with a helipad and intensive treatment that receives only 15 patients a day.”
– I know. Hospitals with huge financial problems received funding for emergency departments that they could not maintain because they had too few patients, and local communities needed completely different health services. She replied that it was a good idea to distribute foam checks before the election.
At the same time, she noted that contracts to modernize emergency departments have already been signed. – It will be very difficult to come back from them. I will have to break the law. I will not undo everything PiS did wrong, because I cannot go back in time. I want to focus on spending money rationally from now on. There will also be new competitions from the Medical Fund. Unfortunately, much of the so-called long-term planning has already been done and Strategic Investments said the fund will run a deficit in 2028.
What is the National Oncology Network?
The National Oncology Network (KSO) aims to provide comprehensive oncology care in the country, and individual stages of treatment should be carried out according to strictly defined criteria. The most complex medical services will be provided at a highly specialized level, complex medical services at a specialized level, and simpler services – at the basic level.
Qualification for certain levels should be based on criteria that take into account, among other things: the number and qualifications of medical staff and diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities.
On February 6, the government adopted a draft amendment to the Public Security Organizations Law, which stipulates, among other things: changing the deadlines for implementing specific solutions.
