Daniel Craig is the new James Bond !

The Daily Mail reports that Daniel Craig who is best known for his recent role in "Layer Cake" will be the new 007. He will portray James Bond in the upcoming "Casino Royale" which will be directed by Martin Campbell. This is Campbell's second time as helmer of a James Bond film. In 1995 he directed the hit "Goldeneye" which introduced Pierce Brosnan to the role of 007 with great success. Goldeneye was one of the biggest smash hits for the Bond franchise.

Reports indicate that Craig and Henry Caville came down to the wire with the auditions, and even went so far as to trying on tuxedos just to see who looked the best. Yes i am laughing at that. There is no official confirmation at this point but the producers are expected to finalize everything at weeks end.

The story of Casino Royale finds James Bond on a mission to neutralize a lethal, high-rolling Russian operative called simply "Le Chiffre". How will he neutralize this vile spy? Why by ruining him at the baccarat table and forcing his Soviet spymasters to 'retire' him of course.  Ok yeah let us all move on. Of course their is a beautiful female agent that leads him into trouble.

Remember at this point the producers have not confirmed anything, but lets just assume that DailyMail has their facts straight and wait to hear more later in the week from the producers!

I still would have liked to see Brosnan back as 007, but Daniel Craig is a very good actor and finally we also got the first blond Bond.
