Sam Worthington Talks Terminator 4

At Comic Con we had a chance to catchup with Sam Worthington and the rest of the cast of Terminator 4. Needless to say being huge fan boys it was a big delight.. Err and Fan girls ( couple writers are ladies ). Anyrate Sam talked to us about his role in the upcoming Terminator Salvation which promises to be the salvation for the film franchise that took a bit of a slide in its last glossy and tame outting to theatres. Sam Worthington plays Marcus Wright and he describes his role clearly but without telling you jack;

I look at this movie as what makes Kyle Reese Kyle Reese and what makes John Connor John Connor and my character’s almost like a bridge between them. I look at my character as a bridge to how they connect and how they grow. He’s a drifter.

Probably the biggest controversy about the upcoming Terminator 4 is the fact that McG is writing it. The fact it stars Christian Bale who is a genius and the fact that the writer of Dark Knight Jonathon Nolan was the lead writer, fans still will not shut up about the fact McG is directing. So many fans consider him a hack. As much as I am not a fan of McG I can see the talent everyone brings and all McG has to do is mix it all together and voila... a hit. Sam Worthington isnt bothered at all about the fact that McG is directing. He didnt show up to do a McG movie he showed up to make a movie.. and so did McG.

First thing McG ever said to me was I don’t want to make a McG movie. I want to make a Terminator movie and that’s where we are.

Sam is a pull no punches straight kind of guy and his answers are the exact same. Simple, to the point and non controversial. As for how he prepared himself and what he did to get into his role and make it look good.. that wasnt his department.

You sit there. It’s the other guy’s job to make it look good. To be honest, they’re doing the hard work. It’s not that hard to sit in a make-up chair and allow the other guys to do their job. They’re the artists making me look good while I’m just sitting there. In this movie, I’ve been blown up, shot at, mined, napalmed. You name it, I’ve fuckin’ had it. How do you prepare for that? You just get in there and do your job. It’s as simple as that.

Sam has gone from being practically unknown to being a leading man in Terminator Salvation as well as the upcoming James Cameron Epic AVATAR but he doesnt let it go to his head. Its a big deal to slide into two big roles but its live one day at a time for Sam.

No one knows what’s going to happen next year. No one. That’s the thing. So all I can do is do my job to the best of my ability. That’s it and we’ll see what happens next year. You might think I’m shit! We’ll be talking about it next year
