Mark Heyman, the writer of BLACK SWAN, is moving forward with a new script/movie entitled XOXO. The script, according to LA Times has hints of Heyman’s BLACK SWAN but is centered around social networking. The story is said to follow a twenty-something man that begins an online relationship with a woman but the woman soon becomes obsessed and very much like a stalker.
Social Networking has been a popular subject in movies these days with THE SOCIAL NETWORK and CATFISH both enjoying different types of success, one would wonder when a Twitter movie moves into development, or God Forbid *gulp* a Myspace movie.
BLACK SWAN director Darren Aronofsky is attached to produce the film and the script is circulating through the appropriate Hollywood circles in search of financing and distribution. XOXO is of course the keystrokes intended to mean hugs and kisses which I can get behind and actually find the title very fitting, I just hoping beyond hope it doesn’t stir up a series of obnoxious straight to video rom coms or horror movies with titles like OMG, LOL, ROTFL, LMAO, BTW, BRB etc.
In all seriousness though, the script for BLACK SWAN wasn’t exactly my favorite aspect of the film, though that’s not to say it was terrible. If the film falls into the right hands though, to me it seems like it’s great fodder for suspenseful film.
