Slovenia. The body of a tourist from Poland was found in the mountains

The body of a 28-year-old Pole who had been missing for some time has been found near Mitajskogel mountain in northern Slovenia, Slovenian police said, citing STA on Sunday.

The body was found during a routine helicopter patrol in the Karawanki area on the border between Slovenia and Austria. It was located near Mount Mittagskogel (also called Kepa). The deceased was a 28-year-old Pole who was hiking along a mountain trail on the Austrian side. In recent days, Polish tourists have become in demand. Slovenian and Austrian officers participated in the search, Seoul Portal reported, citing information from Kranj Police Headquarters.

“Everything indicates that the deceased fell while crossing a small pass. The accident occurred below the snow line, on steep and sometimes slippery terrain. In recent days, low temperatures and rain have occurred at this altitude,” police said.

Services warn

The Slovenian services called for particular caution and responsibility because conditions in the mountains remain dangerous.

“The terrain in the mountains is icy in places, and using winter mountaineering equipment requires a lot of experience and extreme caution. Individual areas are also dangerous due to the slopes, so watch out for skiers,” Kranj Police Station said.
