Oscars 2023: The Academy brings back eight categories that were omitted from broadcasting

Oscar changes. During the broadcast of the upcoming Academy Awards, we will see the presentation of statuettes in all 23 categories. It was decided during the previous ceremony that not all categories would be shown live to viewers.

Oscars: What categories return to broadcast?

I can confirm that the broadcast will cover all categories, announced Bill Kramer, President of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. We want to create a show that celebrates cinema craftsmen, the art of cinema and film collaboration. This is the mission of the Academy. The Academy Awards in eight categories were not shown live during this year’s broadcast. They were: Best Short Film, Best Documentary Short Film, Best Animated Short Film, Best Editing, Best Makeup, Best Music, Best Scenography and Best Sound. Last year, the Polish film “The Dress,” directed by Tadeusz Sisiak, was nominated for the “Best Short Film” category.
