Dmowska-Andrzejuk was already a member of Prime Minister Morawiecki’s government. She headed the Ministry from December 5, 2019 to October 6, 2020. Later, the Ministry of Sports was liquidated and became part of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, led by Deputy Prime Minister Piotr Glinski (rule of Sports until October 2021). , when the ministry became independent again and was taken over by Kamil Bortnichuk). In turn, before Dmovska-Andrejuk, Morawiecki headed the Ministry of Sports for several days. Danuta Dmowska-Andrzejuk lost the election
The Law and Justice Party was then looking for a woman for the position. There was speculation that Monika Peric might become the minister, and there was also talk of Dagmara Gerasimuk, but in the end Morawiecki chose the former world epee champion. Now history is about to repeat itself, because as we hear unofficially, although PiS knows that the government will not be able to survive and that the current opposition will take power, it wants to show that the party is changing and that it is focusing on younger politicians. One of them is 41-year-old Dmowska-Andrzejuk.
The former saber player tried to reach the House of Representatives in the last elections from the Law and Justice Party list in Warsaw, but did not win a seat. “Thank you for your trust and every vote for me! I did not win the mandate, but I do not intend to give up my commitment to society and the development of Polish sport. I am grateful to you for this kind reception and all the meetings during the election campaign,” she later wrote on Instagram, but in fact she did not She gains little confidence, because from seventh place on the list in Warsaw she collected only a little over 3.6 thousand votes, which gave her 0.31 percent support.
Now the adventure can be short
Serving as a minister cost me a lot because it is a great responsibility that is subject to evaluation at every step. In difficult moments, I would sometimes come home crying, but then my husband reminded me that when others clipped my wings, I should keep flying because I had finally achieved my goal. Just like in sports, I also had goals to achieve. It is also a good sign that there are more and more women in sports federations, and an example of this is my friend from the group at the University of Physical Education – Otelia Jedrzejczak, who became the President of the Polish Swimming Federation and recently also became Vice-President of the Polish Olympic Committee – she talked about her work as Minister of Sports in Dialogue with us. Now the tension will probably be less, because everything indicates that the adventure will end very quickly.
