Let’s remember that it only happens once every 10 years, and that its first edition was held in 1952. Every decade since then, film critics from all over the world have submitted their lists to determine the winner; 30 years ago, the directors’ vote was also organized for the first time.
In 2022, as many as 1,639 people took part in the critics’ poll—nearly twice as many as 10 years ago. All of them anticipating the top 10 best movies in history. So did the 480 directors whose votes helped create a ranking of creators.
