Bloomberg: Ukraine's secret meeting with its allies in Riyadh

They attended the December meeting in Riyadh Representatives from India, Saudi Arabia and Turkey. Meanwhile, other southern countries that attended some of the previous key sessions – including China, Brazil and the United Arab Emirates – did not send representatives.

Bloomberg reports that the smaller format of the meeting and the secrecy surrounding it were intended to make participating countries feel more comfortable and enable a freer and more honest discussion about the Ukrainian peace formula and plans to speed up the process, as well as peace principles. Possible future contacts with Russia.

Bloomberg noted that allied efforts to help Ukraine have diminished in recent months. The United States and the European Union have stumbled in the process of approving more than $100 billion in aid, and Ukraine's counterattack last year brought little change to the battlefield.
