Bayern Munich decided to respond to speculation regarding Thomas Tuchel's possible transfer to Spanish club Barcelona.
Barcelona has been searching for a coach since Saturday evening after Xavi announced his departure after the end of the season. The Spaniard said in the press conference that the best solution for the team is to search for a new player.
For this reason, President Joan Laporta and his accompanying delegation face a number of challenges and difficult decisions.
So far, names mentioned in the context of replacing the 44-year-old include Hansi Flick, Imanol Alguacil and Roberto De Zerbe.
Things also escalated after Thomas Tuchel's mysterious statement, in which he stated that he would be willing to try playing in La Liga in the future.
-I would like to work abroad again. Spain has an exceptional league. From my point of view, and from my experience working with the Spaniards, I can admit that they are characterized by great self-confidence. He said: When you talk to Spanish players, you feel like you quickly establish a relationship with them.
The issue sparked speculation to the point that Bayern Munich decided to address it. The German champion issued an official statement in this regard.
“On Sunday, during a visit to the club store, the fans asked our coach Thomas Tuchel about his coaching career and his previous experiences at Paris Saint-Germain or Chelsea. Naturally, he conveyed this in the conversation.
He also answered fans' questions about Spain as a football country. He never spoke about Xavi and his successor, as was falsely said. “We will not accept such biased statements directed at our coach, which always come from the same place,” said general manager Jan Christian Driessen and sporting director Christoph Freund.
Tuchel has been coaching Bayern Munich since March 2023.
