Alexandra Aleska. Queen of Poland from Katowice. A special forces uniform prevented her from going to the cinema

Gorgeous beauty and unique color Poetry Andrzej Łapicki said of her:

She played memorable roles in “The Last Stage” and “The Passenger”. But although she showed her extraordinary talent for acting, it also caused her problems. Alexander Silesia was viewed by many as cold and arrogant, and the credible creations of German women meant that she was accused of collaborating with the Nazis. Threatening messages were sent, and harmful rumors spread. Alexandra Alesca was deeply affected by these accusations.

But from private life and Movie Theater was more important. Thus, marital or motherly love often loses her passion for work.

The one from Silesia

The future star of theater and cinema was born in Katowice on November 4, 1925 as Alexandra Wesk. She grew up in a wealthy home – the girl’s father and younger brother were deputy director of the Polish railway district, independence activist, participant in the Third Silesian Uprising. In the years 1935-1938 he was a member of the Semester of the Second Polish Republic. Children were not lacking in anything – Alexandra rode a motorcycle on the streets of Katowice, often going to the theater with her parents in the evenings. During one of the performances, the girl decided to become an actress. Her parents were surprised at first, because Alexandra was there Baby Very secretive and shy, as well as skinny, red and freckled, so she didn’t promise to be the star of the stage or screen. But they will not stand in the way of their daughter’s dreams. However, the war entered a prosperous and happy life for the family.

In order to protect Alexandra from deportation to forced labor in Germany, her parents sent her to her aunt in Vienna, where the girl worked and studied acting.

She was agonizing over the comments about it, and she preferred not to make it clear that it was an escape from forced labor, and not everyone understood it. Because of Vienna, they met the mother of hate – said Szczęsny Zygmunt Górski, the only son of the actress, in an interview with Dziennik Zachodni.

When the war ended, Alexandra returned to Poland. She continued her education in Krakow. She began attending drama school at the Słowacki Theater in Kraków, where she first met famous theater and theater actors, including Juliusz Osterwa. In 1947, she graduated from the PWSA in Krakow – the Academy of Theater Arts today. During her studies she decided to perform under a different name. One of the lecturers, Weslau Gorecki, advised her. It was believed that the name Wąsik did not match the beauty of the young actress’s bust and would make her career difficult. And since she was the only girl from Katowice, everyone said “the girl from Silesia”, the choice of an artistic nickname was obvious.

First of all, the scene

Alexandra Alexa made her debut at the Słowacki Theater in Krakow before graduating from university. The fact that she very early took part in the role of Rosia in the play “Bartosz Głowacki” testifies to her talent. And the reviews of critics leave no doubt – a star was born. But although the repertoire of ląska in Krakow was very diverse and there were also comedic roles, she dreamed of a job in Warsaw. So in 1949 she moved to the capital, where she joined the Współczesny Theatre. A few years later, she moved to Athens. There she became part of the most powerful band of the time, performing alongside Zbigniew Cybulski, Bogumił Kobiela, Roman Wilhelmi and Marian Kociniak. But the theater’s director, Janusz Warminski, had more than just professional plans for Alaska.

I remember Janusz as a boy in love, who with Ola became very young and a student like him – said Jerzy Krizak years later.

Alexandra Alisca responded to this sentiment. As for Warmiski, she decided to divorce her first husband, Czeslav Gorsky, a doctor, whom he had met before graduating from high school. The marriage of first love, although it began very romantic – the bride and groom went to the wedding in a carriage – did not survive the test of time. Already at that time, Alexandra preferred the world of theater to prose reality. In any case, she lived her whole life according to the words that she always repeated to her students: “Either give yourself entirely to the theater or, as an actor, do not go beyond the threshold of the theater.”

Alexandra shared her second husband’s love for the theater, which certainly ensured the permanence of their romance. It was even said that the couple’s home was the Ateneum Theatre, which the actors jokingly called “the Silesian Warmian Basin”. Only the actress’s son from her first marriage, Szczęsny, was not satisfied with this situation.

This theater took my dad away. In the morning of rehearsals, in the evening, we met on vacation. Art was most important to them, as Szczęsny Górski bitterly recalls many years later.

That German girl

Shortly after her marriage to Janusz Warmiński, Aleksandra Śląska appeared in “Piątka z ulica Barskiej”. In 1953, she received an award for her role at the Cannes Film Festival. But her adventure with cinema started earlier. In 1947, she played the cruel superintendent of the concentration camp at Auschwitz-Birkenau. The film is based on the memories of director Wanda Jakoboska – a former prisoner of the camp. Initially, Silesia was to play one of the prisoners. But Jakubowska decided to try something different that was already on the set. She asked Śląska to try on her SS uniform. Combined with the bust beauty of the actress and her cold and impeccable German look, resulting from his years in Vienna, the effect was so convincing that Jakubowska had no doubts. when Movie It hit theaters, and viewers were also duped. Many of them mistook the reality of the movie with the real world.

Alexandra Aleska began receiving threatening letters after her role in The Final Stage. Someone deduced the fact that she lived in Vienna during the war and came to the wrong conclusion that the actress would then cooperate with the Nazis. The actress’s brother even quarreled with the one who tried to convince him that he saw Alexandra wandering in Katowice in Nazi uniform. Najunka was not helped by the fact that the world of cinema rated her as an ideal actress for the role of a German woman. The great creation was created by, among other things, the “Traveller” by Andrei Monck.

This role allowed me to realize such possibilities in my acting that I did not even doubt myself, that is, I could play a cold, cruel woman with some kind of inner strength. These were unexpected discoveries for me, and as a result, even discoveries are not entirely pleasant – Alexandra Alexa summed up in one of her few interviews.

Because the actress did not like to trust her private life, and this topic, along with questions about the roles of German women, which she did not like very much, often appeared in her. “The way German women acting is discussed makes me a little pissed off. It’s not a professional term. We don’t play nationalities!” – Silesian indignation added.

Cold Queen

Most likely, it was her assignment of a certain type of role that made Alexandra Alexa, after an excellent performance in “The Passenger”, decide to take a break from the cinema. She focused on her greatest love – the theatre. But here, too, she had a definite embloy. She often played the role of aristocrats or cold seductresses. Perhaps that is why she found her starting point in working in radio and dubbing. There, her acting beauty did not define the figure, and her deep, hoarse voice was a huge advantage. So Silesia voiced such stars as Elizabeth Taylor, Ingrid Bergmann and Marlena Dietrich.

Years later, the world of cinema again asked Alexandra Aleska. She returned triumphantly in a role that came to many’s minds when they heard her name. The actress “Królowej Bona” has reached the peak of her talent. But at the news that the 55-year-old actress will play the younger king in the first episodes of two decades, Celesia was horrified. Then she told her friend that she was also afraid to return to the set after years of rest. The effect of her work was, however, a real masterpiece.

She is the only one who can realistically play the emotions of a girl 30 years younger. For a year, this job required persistence, getting up at dawn, a few hours of make-up, hair treatment…I know actresses who seem cute, and in the back hell, the hairdressers would kill them. Nor was Ola – the series’ director, Janusz Majewski, argued.

Alexandra Śląska played her last film role with Janusz Majewski. She played the role of the Queen again in “Elegy to Barbara Radziwiłłówna”. Later, she devoted herself to educating a new generation of actors, and also appeared in plays. Her last role was in 1988 in her students’ graduation performance.

She did not know at the time that she was terminally ill. Like every year, she went to rest in a sanatorium in Karlovy Vary. However, she passed out in the pool and was taken straight to the hospital, where she was initially suspected of having pneumonia. Alexandra Alisca was diagnosed with cancer. The disease was so advanced that doctors were helpless. The actress died on September 18, 1989, less than a month after the diagnosis. “I never accepted my mother’s death. Perhaps because it was so sudden and unexpected” – admitted Szczęsny Górski in an interview with the author of “To be Baby legends”.
