David Cronenberg Doesnt want his FLY Remake.. remade

I am not sure how many of you know this but the 1986 version of THE FLY was a remake. David Cronenberg remade it from a 1958 version. Well he recently made it damn clear that he is not keen on the 2006 remake being planned.

Fox Searchlight has the rights to the new remake and are planning on a 2006 release with an unknown Todd Lincoln at the helm. He told our favorite female reporter Staci Wilson that he doesn't want to see a remake. Why? We don't know. But to me it seems kind of funny to say somebody else can't do a remake, but he can?

David Cronenberg's 1986 remake of the 1958 SciFi classic is about a scientist who has a horrific accident when he tries to use his newly invented teleportation device. Seth Brundle (Jeff Goldblum), a brilliant but eccentric scientist attempts to woo investigative journalist Veronica Quaife (Geena Davis) by offering her a scoop on his latest research in the field of matter transportation, which against all the expectations of the scientific establishment have proved successful.

Up to a point, Brundle thinks he has ironed out the last problem when he successfully transports a living creature, but when he attempts to teleport himself a fly enters one of the transmission booths, and Brundle finds he is a changed man.
