The gaming industry is failing LGBTQ gamers. Advocacy group GLAAD releases report with 'alarming numbers'

GLAAD is an organization that works to promote and defend the rights of LGBTQ people in the media. In its first report on gaming, GLAAD provided data and analysis on the representation of the LGBTQ community and communities in gaming. The report, based on Nielsen research, shows that the games have great potential, but also much room for improvement.

According to the report, 17% of active players identify as from the LGBTQ community, meaning they are an important part of the market.. However, only 2% of games on major PC and console platforms (PSN, Steam, Nintendo eShop, etc.) are rated as containing LGBTQ content, suggesting that games with queer characters or stories are very rare. The report also confirms that gaming plays an important role in the lives of many LGBT people, especially young people, who are looking for escape and acceptance.

It also aims to be a source of inspiration and support for queer creators and gamers who want to get involved and share their experiences.
