“RoboCop”, “Stargate”, and “Legally Blonde” are all planned by Amazon Studios
Apparently, Amazon has been approached by major creators interested in working on new versions of their favorite titles. At the same time, Amazon Studios is testing the potential of more projects based on its talent base. Each title is treated individually: some have a chance to return as miniseries, others as movies, and still others – in both versions.
According to Amazon, “RoboCop” is a project with both movie and series potential. However, the series will go first. The first movie in the series was made in 1987: directed by Paul Verhoeven and starring Peter Weller. Among others, he has two sequels (1990, 1993), a remake (2014) and several sequels: live action (1994-1995) and animation (1988).
The situation is the opposite in the case of “Stargate”: in this case, the film is released first, and then the series. The original Stargate premiered in 1994. It was directed by Roland Emmerich and starred Kurt Russell and James Spader. The film spawned several sequels Direct to DVD and the sequels (“Stargate”, “Stargate: Atlantis”, “Stargate: Universe”).
There are also discussions about revitalizing the idea for a third installment in the “Legally Blonde” series. But in this case, Amazon also sees an opportunity for this series. To date, two films have been made, starring Reese Witherspoon (2001, 2003), and a spin-off (2009).
Amazon Studios productions to date include: The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power, The Boys, The Expanse, The Reacher, and The Wheel of Time
What other titles will Amazon update?
There’s also a chance he’ll return in the “Fame,” “Barbershop,” and “The Magnificent Seven” series. There are also talks of new movie versions of “The Thomas Crown Affair,” “Pink Panther” (possibly in the animated version), and “The Ghost.”
As we wrote in March, an on-screen universe built around the “Creed” series is also in development. It will include both film and television projects, feature productions and animation, including a film about the adventures of Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren) and his son Victor (Florian Munteanu). There are also plans for an anime series as well as a project dedicated to Adonis Creed’s daughter.
At the moment, Amazon is not interested in the serial version of the adventures of James Bond.
