Luke Skywalker will play a major role in the movie Rey
Lucasfilm CEO Kathleen Kennedy revealed some new information about the upcoming movie in an interview. She revealed that Luke Skywalker’s teachings on Rey would have a strong impact on the story.
We’re 15 years into Saga 9, so we’re at war, with the First Order destroyed, and the Jedi in disarray. There’s a lot of discussion about “Who are the Jedi? What do they do? What is the state of the galaxy?” Rey is trying to reconstruct the Jedi Order from the books and her promise to Luke, so we’re going.
Kennedy went on to point to flashbacks and the possibility of Luke Skywalker appearing as the Force spirit in the film. The studio head admitted that they don’t have concrete plans for this yet, but Luke’s lessons won’t be in vain.
I don’t know if we’re going to spend a lot of time in flashbacks and with the spirit of the Force, but definitely the spirit of what he has for it. [Rey] Represents will matter.
