Jean-Pierre Ferland’s national funeral will be celebrated on Saturday 1 at the Marie-Reine-du-Mande Cathedral in Montreal.There is Next June, the Quebec government announced Wednesday. The ceremony will be held at 11 am.


A limited number of places will be offered to the public, a government press release said, stating that “further details will follow”.

The 1There is In June, the Quebec flag will be flown at half-mast on the tower of the Parliament building, “as a symbol of official expression of collective mourning,” the same document continues.

Before being taken to his final resting place, the singer will be at the Théâtre Maisonneuve on the Place des Arts from 10:30am to 4pm on Friday, May 31. The public is invited to come and pay their respects.

Those interested can sign the obituary register on the Quebec government website. It will be accessible till June 2.

Jean-Pierre Ferland, a prominent figure in Quebec song, died of natural causes on April 27 at the age of 89. He had been housed at CHSLD in Lanaudiere since last February.
