After many years, we saw the official announcement of the first trailer for GTA 6. The material will appear soon – in early December. However, many players are losing sleep over the potential price of the game. This topic was addressed, albeit in a somewhat general way, in the last topic Investors meeting President of Take-Two Interactive.

“Prices are still very low.”

During the meeting, Zelnick discussed the somewhat complex model currently in place to set prices for electronic entertainment.

  1. Accordingly, as Take-Two’s president claims, “In pricing any entertainment, the primary basis is the expected usage value, which means the price per hour of gameplay multiplied by the expected number of hours plus the residual value that the customer views as ownership if the title is actually owned and not, for example, rented.” Or shared.”
  2. This can be summed up in a short summary – that is, the amount players pay for a game depends, according to this model, on how long they play a given game thanks to the available content (assuming this assumption).
  3. According to Zelnick, given this data, “Our game prices remain very low because as a publisher we offer many hours of engagement“.

Zelnick’s approach doesn’t exactly make sense. After all, GTA 5, which premiered in 2013, costs around PLN 250. Even though 10 years have passed since that day, the title is still played by millions of fans (including many new fans). We also can’t forget about GTA Online, which is constantly receiving new content.

How much can GTA 6 cost?

The next installment of the popular series certainly won’t be cheap. If the publisher decides to adjust the game’s pricing closer to what it will actually offer (Assuming the current price limit of $70, i.e. approximately PLN 300, is still a low price for the game)the purchase amount may exceed PLN 400 or even PLN 500 for the basic version. And they probably won’t change anything here Player concerns and opposition voices. It is worth noting that one of the first games priced at $70 was NBA 2K21 From 2K Games, owned by Take-Two.

At the same time, as the head of Take-Two himself emphasized, it is not only the publisher who decides the final price of the product. This is also affected by several other factors, such as distributors.

Let us note that Strauss Zelnick is not the only one who believes that the prices of current games are too low. In September, Capcom President Haruhiro Tsujimoto also commented on the topic.
