According to Time, the list includes people who “changed history and defined the past year.”
Prime Minister Donald Tusk was among those honored on the “Leaders” list.
“Prime Minister Tusk has answered two questions that could not be more timely: How can we defeat the populists? How can we stop the erosion of democracy and the rule of law?” European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen wrote about him in Time magazine.
“He is a political marathon runner. We have all learned that it is never too late and that it is worth making every effort to defend democracy,” Ursula von der Leyen added, referring to the 2023 parliamentary elections.
Traditionally, the list includes representatives from different walks of life. This year, there are, for example, singer Dua Lipa, businessman Mark Cuban and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella. There is also Yulia Navalna, the widow of recently deceased Russian opposition politician Alexei Navalny.
Here's TIME's full list for this year.
The list was first published in 1999. Donald Tusk is the only Pole this year in this prestigious ranking.
