I don't want to hear any condolences. We saw him on February 12 in prison. Alexei Navalny's mother, Lyudmila, says he was alive, healthy and happy. She published a post on social media indicating the death of her son.

Reuters reported on Friday that Alexei Navalny had died. She referred to a statement issued by the Russian penal colony where the dissident was imprisoned.

His mother, Lyudmila Navalnaya, commented on this information in a post on Facebook. The woman, whose words were quoted by Novaya Gazeta, said: “I don't want to hear any condolences. We saw him in prison on February 12. He was alive, healthy and happy.”

Navalny is dead

Authorities of the penal colony in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Oblast in northern Russia – where Navalny was imprisoned – said in a statement that Navalny “felt unwell” after walking on Friday and “almost immediately lost consciousness.”

Immediately, the facility's medical staff arrived at the scene of the accident, an ambulance was called, and all necessary resuscitation operations were performed, but they did not yield any positive results, and the doctors confirmed the death of the convict.
