AEW Worlds End: What does the future hold for MJF?

The story ends at AEW Worlds End 2023.

AEW presented its last PPV of 2023 from Long Island, with MJF defending his world title against Samoa Joe in the main event of the evening. MJF wanted to win this match in front of his hometown fans and had his best friend Adam Cole to support him.

Unfortunately, Samoa Joe was able to defeat him by submission when he no longer responded to the referee's demands. Joe celebrates his victory, and then, surprisingly, Team Devils comes to the ring! When MJF wanted to defend his friend Adam Cole, the lights went out and then came back on and Adam Cole was standing in front of the group!

Adam Cole is thus revealed to be the leader of the masked group: therefore he is the devil ! A team consisting of Roderick Strong, Matt Daven, Mike Bennett and Wardlow. The show ended with a clan celebration following the attack on MJF:

What does this storyline mean for MJF's future in AEW?

As noted in Catch-Newz, MJF's initial contract with AEW expires on January 1, 2024. However multiple sources reported that he has already re-signed with AEW. Insiders also said that he was not in talks with WWE, so he would have directly re-signed with AEW.

Following AEW Worlds Ends 2023, Fightful took on MJF's future and according to their MJF will take an indefinite leave. As mentioned in our previous articles MJF suffered some injuries following Full Gear 2023 and he is yet to recover.

Losing the title would be the best chance to give him a well-deserved break, but nothing is confirmed. Since the former champion has a certain creative control and can change his future according to his desires, it is necessary to monitor the situation.
