A Russian general threatens to attack NATO airports

French President Emmanuel Macron said he did not rule out supplying fighter jets to Ukraine. The informed Politico, citing the French assistant defense minister, reported that the authorities in Paris are examining Kyiv’s request to train Ukrainian pilots to fly combat aircraft.

General Yevgeny Borzynsk, former head of the International Military Cooperation Department of the Russian Ministry of Defense, did not exclude that in the event of transferring aviation to Ukraine, NATO would make available its own airfields in neighboring countries for its use. As he said, this is the effect of the “deficit” of Ukrainian military airfields at the beginning of the “special military operation”, as the Russians call the invasion of Ukraine.

Russia will respond by attacking airports in Poland and Romania?

– Therefore, if they (NATO countries – Ed.) decide to use aviation, he can start operating from nearby NATO airfields (eg in Romania, Poland). In this case, I am firmly convinced that, from the point of view of international law, it becomes a legal target for destruction.

– Then let the Americans themselves think how to respond to this – whether to go to war because of this or tell the allies: “It’s your business, take care of the Russians yourself,” Burzynsky added in an interview with RIA Novosti.

Earlier, the authorities in Kyiv reported that after Western countries announced their intention to supply Ukraine with tanks, President Volodymyr Zelensky asked his allies for help in the form of long-range aircraft and missiles.

Last spring, Moscow sent a note to NATO member states on the transfer of weapons to the Ukrainian army. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov warned that any shipments containing military equipment would become a “legitimate target” for Russian forces.

Tanks for Ukraine. Will the West do it?

In recent weeks, Western countries have complied To provide Kyiv with hundreds of modern tanks and armored vehicles to equip Ukrainian forces for an offensive to retake territory controlled by Russia.

Zelensky called on the West to speed up promised arms deliveries so that Ukraine could act. The American Institute for the Study of War (HEI) estimated that the “failure of the West to provide the necessary equipment” last year was the main reason why Kyiv’s advance on the battlefield had stalled since November.
