Was the Putin-Zelensky agreement a step closer?  A Polish diplomat reveals the story behind the scenes

Shortly after Russia invaded Ukraine, negotiators from both sides drafted a peace treaty. The warring parties negotiated until April 15, 2022. The mediator was Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Die Welt journalists obtained a copy of this 17-page document.

Under the draft agreement, Kiev and Moscow largely agreed on the terms for ending the war. However, several points remained open. They were supposed to be negotiated in person between Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky in a meeting that never took place. After the promising summit in Istanbul, Moscow made other demands that Kiev did not agree to.
