We are very sorry, the more this success is like winning the Champions League, the participation in the World Club Championship will be an opportunity to increase the achievements of Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle on the international stage. It’s a prestigious tournament and there is no doubt that it was a great honor for us to be invited,” Oedersky said, citing the club’s official website.
The World Volleyball Championship is scheduled to be held in Betim from December 7-11. This could involve playing two or four extra games and getting out of the league.
– Before making the final decision on participation, we had to take into account several aspects. Unfortunately, given the current epidemiological situation in the world, as well as logistical issues related to the team’s trip to Brazil, we are forced to abandon participation in the tournament. The health and safety of the team is of fundamental importance to us. In addition, let’s remember the extensive calendar of PlusLiga matches and Champions League matches – explained the President of ZAKSA SA
– The date of the Club World Cup in our case will cause additional complications, because 3 days after the end of the tournament – on December 14 we will have a demanding match in the Champions League and a trip to Novosibirsk, which will be difficult to reconcile logistically – he added.
The UEFA Champions League will begin on 1 December with a home match against Slovenian OK Merkur Maribor.
