Who can apply for gas VAT refund 2023?
The Gaseous Fuel Consumers Special Protection Act provides for reimbursement. Households that use gas for heating purposes, i.e. to heat the house, may apply for a refund of VAT on gas. VAT will not be refunded to those who use it only for cooking, as well as those who heat utility water with gas. The use of gas for heating a house or apartment must be confirmed by entering the Central register of building emissions.
Another important condition for a refund of VAT for gas is the income criterion.

The income standard for a VAT refund is the same as for the coverage allowance, ie:
- 2100 PLN for a single person family,
- 1500 PLN per person In the case of a multi-person family.
Where to apply for the VAT refund on gas?
Applications must be submitted to the municipal office to the mayor, mayor or city president.
From when is the VAT refund application submitted for gas?
Valid VAT refund on gas price From January 1, 2023. You can apply for a VAT refund after receiving your first gas bill and then pay it in the new year.
Important! The request must be submitted within 30 days of receiving the invoice documenting the delivery of the gaseous fuel.
Until when can applications for VAT refund for gas 2023 be submitted?
Applications can be submitted until December 31, 2023.
What are the documents that must be attached to the VAT refund application for the year 2023?
The following must be attached to the application:
- An agreement entered into by the gaseous fuel customer with an energy company engaged in the business of trading gaseous fuels or a copy thereof,
- An invoice documenting the delivery of gaseous fuel to this customer by this energy company,
- Proof of payment of this bill.

The granting of a VAT refund by the mayor, mayor or city head does not require a resolution.
Only refusal to grant a VAT refund, cancel or change the amount of a VAT refund and a decision on a refund of VAT collected without justification requires a decision from the office.
