Storks leave Poland earlier than usual. Scientists cannot explain the behavior of birds

The mysterious behavior of storks! Scientists from the Poznań University of Life Sciences told the Polish Press Agency about the case. As it turned out, the young storks that hatch this year gather very early to fly to warm countries. “This year everything is different. The storks arrived late, but they did their parenting work very efficiently. Thus the number of young in many places in Poland is above average, and our pessimistic vision at the beginning of the breeding season was definitely not fulfilled, “- PAP told prof. Pyotr Trejanovsky. According to PAP, “for reasons that are difficult to explain to researchers,” young storks begin to flee Poland about 10 days or even two weeks earlier than the normal long-term rate.

Storks leave early so the winter will be cold? Scientists dispel doubts

Why this behavior of birds? Nobody knows that. The researchers stress that the sometimes-repeated statement that the early departure of storks heralds an exceptionally harsh winter is not supported by scientific data. Interestingly, families of storks do not fly together, the young fledged ahead of their parents. Birds from Silesia leave for the winter the earliest, then those from the north of the country, and those from the east stay in Poland the longest.
