When the release date for God of War: Ragnarok was announced, I found that Hogwarts Legacy and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora shouldn’t be on store shelves in 2022 for one simple reason. It was a storm of premieres, which most players had not dreamed of for a long time.
Publishers have taken almost all the free appointments, and it so happens that there is no extra space for some titles and they first appear a day, twelve or more days before or after their great competitor saw the light of day. An example of a book is Skull and Bones, which will appear on the market on November 8, and a day later PS5 owners will be able to enter the world of Norse mythology. Well… In my opinion, Ubisoft’s hacker game has no chance here in hand-to-hand combat and I wouldn’t be surprised if I’m late.
Hogwarts Legacy or Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora didn’t get a chance to debut in September, because the developers weren’t excited to bring their games all summer, which actually ends now. It was clear that they needed more time to polish some of the mechanisms or get rid of bugs, because in both cases we will be dealing with large open worlds – and these worlds have been suffering from bugs lately.
October, in turn, was not an option at all, because almost every week we get a high budget, which has a great opportunity to compete for prizes in different categories during The Game Awards 2022 or even GOTY 2022. I’m talking about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II or Bayonetta 3, Knights of Gotham, Overwatch 2, or A Plague Tale: Requiem, which could be the dark horse of the year. There was no place for another production here.
This is November and December. The beginning of the first is already dedicated to God of War: Ragnarok, and the gap can only be seen between November 15-25. It’s not that big, because on December 2 we’ll be able to check out Callisto’s Protocol, which also promises to be very good and I wouldn’t be surprised if players attack the Dead Space Heir to get fresh rolls in the bakery in the morning. So we got to the point that the second of the two “free dates” available is pre-holiday.
Hogwarts Legacy of Christmas? it was possible
At that time, Hogwarts Legacy was planned to be launched for the first time on the market. Many fans of the Harry Potter universe will surely be delighted with this, because they have a great excuse to put a scented new chest of Hogwarts Heritage under the Christmas tree, and spend the following days of holidays not only with family, but also evenings at the School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
However, that didn’t happen, because both productions have been pushed back to next year, and in the case of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, until next fiscal year, which means the game could debut until March 2024. Those slides made me happy on the one hand, because Thanks to this I will be able to check out all the important premieres one by one, without having to leave them unpacked (and I will probably create a comprehensive guide to most of them), but on the other hand…for God of War: Ragnarok.
It looks like the Sony production will win the most big prizes. The new Call of Duty, although it will surely sell in a huge circulation, will not be anything new, Gotham Knights, although it looks better with every material, it is unlikely to deliver such high quality as a Santa Monica glove studio.. remains A Plague’s Tale: Requiem, which I called the Black Horse, is not without necessity.
You can see in black and white that the developers are inspired by the brand The Last of Us – they want to give us a very strong emotional story that focuses on the relationships between several main characters. We encourage exploration in order to obtain materials for crafting, thus creating the basic things needed to clash with opponents. The creators also provide a semi-open world that fascinates us with the scenery, and also convinces us to perform side activities… However, is it a game like God of War: Ragnarok? The answer would be similar to Gotham Knights’ answer – unfortunately not.
After the postponement of the release of Hogwarts Legacy and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, it turns out that God of War Ragnarok will be the most significant premiere of the second half of 2022. Thanks to Horizon Forbidden West, Sony will get a lot of applause for this year, and I’m sorry Microsoft didn’t really succeed in Prepare this new forum at least for the coming fall – it will be more interesting and diverse.
