Major PlayStation data leak! We've learned the sales results for all of Sony's first-party games

If you follow our beloved industry on a regular basis, then you surely remember last year's data leak from Insomniac Games, through which hackers gained access not only to the studio's data, but also to many other information related to PlayStation.

Large companies rarely share detailed sales figures for their games, especially if they are listed on a stock exchange, and they must be careful about any information they provide publicly. Unfortunately, it sometimes happens that hackers, dissatisfied with the lack of information, break into servers and drives to get the data they want to know. Sometimes for satisfaction, sometimes for ransom.

Last year's Insomniac Games hack had many unpleasant consequences for Sony and the entire PlayStation, and we can still see its effects today. A Sony document has just been released online, where we can see the sales results of all products and game bundles from PlayStation Studios released by the Japanese on PSP, PS3, PS Vita, PS4 and PS5. In short, a list of Sony's best-selling games and biggest flops in PlayStation Network history has been leaked.

It turns out that Sony's best movies are Spider-Man, The Last of Us, God of War, Gran Turismo, and Horizon. Here is a list of the ten highest-grossing games in PlayStation Network history:

  1. Marvel's Spider-Man – $315 million
  2. God of War: Ragnarok – $279 million
  3. The Last of Us Part 2 – $242 million
  4. Spider-Man: Miles Morales – $231 million
  5. God of War (PS4) – $229 million
  6. Ghost of Tsushima – $215 million
  7. Horizon: Zero Dawn – $160 million
  8. Horizon: Forbidden West – $150 million
  9. Gran Turismo 7 – $141 million
  10. The Last of Us Remastered – $108 million

Additionally, only Gran Turismo Sport ($101.5 million) and Days Gone ($100.5 million) crossed the $100 million mark. Interestingly, many of you may be interested in the fact that Bloodborne is the 15th highest-grossing first-party game on PlayStation Network, followed by Death Stranding (PS4 version), Detroit Become Human, and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart in the top 20.

As for the biggest flops in Sony's history, here are some interesting facts. A bundle of two classic PSX games, i.e. MediEvil + Siphon Filter, was purchased from the PlayStation 3 store by 10 people, showing that at the time, collectible games didn't necessarily produce results – each of these games separately achieved much better results . In addition, we have Kill Strain (still remember?) with up to 338 downloads, and Drawn to Death from the author of the Twisted Metal and God of War series has been downloaded by “up to” 3,850 people. One interesting sign of the beginning times of digital distribution may be the fact that only 11,000 players purchased Demon's Souls on PS3 digitally.
