– It was a well-deserved win. We scored three goals and controlled the game. It was good to be 3-0 up at half-time, which was in line with our intentions and goals before the match. After the break the situation was stable, and we still had the advantage. We tried to score more goals, but unfortunately we failed. My perception is that we could have played more attackingly, but the key is to win – said Legia coach Kosta Rungajic after the match against GKS Tychy in the 1/16 finals of the Polish Cup.
– Tychy is definitely not an easy place to play. They are a big team in League One and have the support of the whole stadium. Now we just have to focus on the next meeting. We’ve won, we’ve advanced, and… we’re moving forward, with an eye on the next step. I can congratulate my team, every player individually.
– We needed quality in our attacking play in the second half. In the last game we dominated, we took 26 shots and lost 1-3. Cups can be dangerous. I wanted to play decisively forward and score the fourth goal. I lacked quality in attack in the second half.
– Why did Strzałek come so late? Why did he come earlier? Football is unpredictable. I didn’t like the fact that we didn’t play more attacking today and didn’t create more chances. A safe score is when the match is over. Luck will not always be on our side. There was no need to introduce any of the substitute players earlier.
-Our fans were amazing. They have been with us once again, and their support has been invaluable. These are the best fans, today they invested a lot to come here for the team. It’s good that we can return the favor to them with a good result. It’s just a moment, but it’s also a step in the right direction.
