Rosario Dawsons Gemini Division Web Series Movie Review

I had a chance to get a sneak peak at the first 2 episodes of the upcoming Rosario Dawson Web Series called Gemini Division which will air on NBC.com. I am a huge fan of Rosario Dawson and think she is gorgeous but even that cant make or break a series much less a web-short series. What I saw was just that a sneak peak but unfortunately a sneak peak at nothing.

You would think with a web series where popularity is make or break in the first impression that the first two episodes would be the meat to our meat and potatoes meal. Lay the ground work, get the ball rolling and then tell a story with more interludes of drama, excitement and a little side order of action. The first two episodes which I just watched were flat.. boring and sure to guarantee failure. The best thing about the web series is by far the synopsis.

Set in the not too distant future, "Gemini Division" follows NYPD vice cop Anna Diaz (Rosario Dawson) who, while searching for the truth behind her fiancée's murder, is drawn into a secret war between a race of artificial life forms know as SIMs and the covert agency charged with hunting them down

The story does sound pretty cool and this web series is one where you need to know the story ahead of time for two reasons. First to know what the heck is going on and second to keep you interested in seeing Episodes 3 and beyond. The first two episodes on their own bore and will make you never give Episode 3 or any future episodes a second thought. I am still interested just to see if the story does eventually go somewhere and if it does get interesting. Shot mainly in first person with Rosario talking into a camera phone telling you whats going on it is so far very much un-eventfull and certainly not innvoative. Lets hope Episode 3 is a big step forward in what could be an interesting story... at least from the synopsis
