Terminator: Survivors – Nacon talks about the details of the upcoming game. Story context, PvE, Unreal Engine 5, and more

The Terminator universe continues to be fertile ground for new projects. While the film industry has exhausted its resource for some time with its recent productions (or indeed, to some extent, every sequel), games are doing well. A few years ago, Polish studio Teyon presented Terminator: Resistance, a successful FPS, and in February Slitherine came out with a well-reviewed strategy – Terminator: Dark Fate – Alliance. This fall, Nacon will introduce an open-world action game series.

The creators of Terminator: Survivors have released a bunch of information about the upcoming game – including details of the plot, mechanics, and certain aspects of gameplay.

Starfield will finally get performance modes on Xbox Series

The first information about the project appeared in 2022, but it is slowly starting to reach us now more Nuances. The story will certainly focus on the late period of 2009 – a few years after the infamous Doomsday, when the resistance movement was almost non-existent. Survivors of the nuclear storm are just beginning to organize in different ways. Larger and smaller groups are formed that fight for dominance. Many people had no idea what led to these post-apocalyptic times, and only a few people were aware of the existence of Skynet. This gives a completely different starting point than, say, the previously mentioned Terminator: Resistance, where John Connor’s fighters were already a fairly common element of the scene.

Everspace 2 has been ported to Unreal Engine 5.3. Lumen and NVIDIA DLSS 3 features have been introduced to the game

Terminator: Survivors will be played from a first-person perspective with the option to complete the entire story with three friends – but more importantly, the whole thing can be completed not only alone, but also offline. The main quest and side quests will revolve around discovering a part of the history in the universe that has not been explored yet – namely the times immediately after Terminator 2. We will meet well-known characters from the saga, but also new faces. The game will introduce only one Terminator – the T-800 model, in order to maintain the cohesion of the world and at the same time the chase atmosphere, well known from James Cameron’s successes in 1984 and 1991. We’ll start the adventure with a single expandable base, and a system of vehicles is planned to help us travel through the devastated lands. The creators announced the first playtests shortly before entering Early Access. Survivor will be powered by Unreal Engine 5.
