NASA Administrator Bill Nelson said in an interview with the German newspaper “Bild” that China could take the moon as part of its military program. He stressed that China’s space program is mainly of a military nature.
The Chinese could land on the moon and say: Now it belongs to us and you should get away – asserted Nelson.
The head of NASA further stated that China has stolen space technology from other countries. He added that the enormous ambitions of the Middle Kingdom should raise the concerns of all countries in the widely understood West.
China criticizes the words of the director of NASA. “Ignores facts and says irresponsible things”
The Chinese Foreign Ministry responded to Bill Nelson’s comments on Monday. This is not the first time that the head of the US National Aeronautics and Space Agency ignores facts and says irresponsible things about China, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian.
The US side is constantly waging a slanderous campaign against China’s space program. Zhao stressed that China firmly opposes such irresponsible remarks.
A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman noted that his country has always wanted to cooperate with other countries in space. He added that China wanted to build the future of mankind and had “always been against” the global arms race.

As part of the Artemis space program, NASA plans to send a manned mission to lunar orbit in 2024. Twelve months or so later, the astronauts are scheduled to land on Silver Globe, near the South Pole. China’s moon plans have so far been limited to unmanned missions.
