breast cancer. The CNN journalist said on the program that she has stage three cancer

-I have never been sick in my life. I don't smoke, and I rarely drink. Breast cancer does not run in my family. “And yet I have stage three cancer,” CNN journalist Sarah Sidner said on the station. She then implored women to get mammograms and perform breast self-examinations.

– Take a moment to remember the names of eight women you know and love. Only eight. Count them on your fingers. Statistically, one of them will develop or suffer from breast cancer. I'm one of eight in my group of friends,” CNN anchor Sarah Sidner said on the live TV show that aired Monday. -I have never been sick in my life. I don't smoke, and I rarely drink. The journalist told viewers that she has been undergoing chemotherapy for two months, and also announced that she will undergo radiation therapy and a double mastectomy. “Stage 3 is not a death sentence for the vast majority of women,” Sidner said. She added that she was “shocked” to learn that black women are 41% more likely to die from breast cancer. Bigger than others.

Black women are more likely to develop triple-negative breast cancer, “so they are twice as likely to be diagnosed as white women,” Dr. William Dahut, of the American Cancer Society, told CNN.

The journalist admitted that she had cancer. Appeals to women

After telling CNN she had cancer, Sarah Sidner posted part of the program on X, urging women to get mammograms. “Please, for the love of God, get your mammograms and self-exam done. I want you to thrive, sisters,” she wrote.

Breast cancer – if detected early, it is curable

Experts confirm that mammography and breast self-examination by women, followed by rapid and appropriate diagnosis and treatment, is the key to overcoming this cancer. Breast cancer is the most common malignant tumor among women, also in Poland. According to data published by the National Health Fund last year, approximately 20,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer every year in our country. The National Health Fund stated that this cancer in the initial stage does not cause any symptoms, and if it is discovered early thanks to regular examinations, it is curable.
