Only Pete Sampras had his winning time, which on the day of the 1990 US Open finals was 19 years 15 days, three months and 22 days shorter than Alcaraz. However, on Monday the Spaniard will become the youngest ever captain in the ATP rankings. He will surpass Denmark’s leader Daniel Medvedev, Alexander Zverev and Rafael Nadal, whose successor has been hailed in his homeland.
On the other hand, Rod is unlucky in the finals of the most important tournaments. He played for the third time in the finals of the Grand Slam or the ATP Masters 1000 series. He had previously lost to Nadal at the French Open and to Alcaraz at the Miami Open a few months ago.
