WWE RAW returns to Montreal after a 5-year hiatus

Text by Pat Labrate from the site Wrestling.Quebec

Earlier today, European specialty site Catch-News reported that WWE will broadcast a taping of its flagship show, Raw, live from the Bell Center in Montreal on Monday, April 15, 2024.

Although WWE has not announced anything yet, I can confirm this news.

In fact, WWE will be at the Bell Center on April 15, eight days after WrestleMania 40.

This will be the first Raw in Montreal since 2019, which curiously also took place on April 15th.

Currently, Quebecer Kevin Owens is on SmackDown on Fridays, while his compatriot Sami Zayn is on Raw. However, we recently learned that Zayn has requested a leave from WWE. So we don’t know if he will be back by April 15th or not.

But hey, we know, a lot can change in four months. On another note, the event marks CM Punk’s return to Montreal in over 10 years.

Post Post Raw!
This year’s WrestleMania will take place on April 6-7 in Philadelphia. A post-Mania Raw will also take place on April 8 in the City of Brotherly Love. So the company decided to stay on the East Coast as it did with New York and Montreal in 2019.

At least 10,000 visitors
In 2019, the event drew 10,500 spectators, and in April 2018, 13,500 fans went through the Bell Center turnstiles for Raw. It is worth noting that Smackdown was presented in the same arena the day after these two events.

The last time Raw was taped live from Quebec, it was in Quebec City last August, and it drew 10,583 fans.

So I expect 12,000 to 13,000 visitors by April 15th.

Smackdown in Quebec?
I’m already waiting for the question from Quebec wrestling fans! Could the Videotron Center be the host of SmackDown?

It is not impossible.

Although the April 19 Smackdown is confirmed in Pittsburgh, it is unlikely that the previous Friday, April 12, will be able to book the show from Quebec.

Alternatively, a non-television program may be produced there on Saturdays or Sundays. To be continued!

In this case, the next WWE meeting is on December 28, at the Blaze Bell, for a non-televised event.
