In the result of the fourth round of PlusLiga, Jastrzębski Węgiel defeated Asseco Resovia Rzeszów 3:1, although he had to cope without the injured Norbert Huber. Even the debut of Stephen Bowyer in the league did not help the guests.

Jastrzębski Węgiel entered the PlusLiga fourth round match without his injured star Norbert Huber. The injury he suffered in the Polish Super Cup match turned out to be so serious that the national team player was unable to compete with Asiko Resovia. Rzeszów entered the competition for the Polish champions with Steven Boyer, who was making his league debut in new colours.

From the start, the home side had a two-point lead, but their rivals stayed in touch. They even took the lead when Tore Defalco stopped Jean Patry (7:6). However, it was temporary, because Jastrzębie’s team quickly regained the advantage and thanks to a series of points jumped back (17:13). The French striker, who obstructed his compatriot Yassin Al Lawati, helped in this.

There was no shortage of emotions at the end. Resovia were chasing, but the locals took set points when Bowyer broke. The first two were not used, but Rafael Shimura made no mistake in the third.

The start of the second set belonged to the Polish champion, who led 8:4 after a mistake by Defalco. DeFalco’s serves and Boyer’s attacks caused Rzeszchov’s team to immediately make up for the loss (8:8). The Frenchman made sure that Resovia went back (12:10), but their rivals were back in front again thanks to a series of points (15:12). Much of the credit goes to Tomas Fornal, who served two aces.

Despite leading by three points, we eventually got an equaliser, which Bowyer secured (20:20). However, it worked again when DeFalco entered the pit lane. When Szymura started to miss the reception, Resovia won by two set points. During the second Yuri Gladyr scored.

The third part of this competition was very even. Thanks to DeFalco, Rzeszchov’s team got two points (9:7), but that was only temporary. The hero for Jastrzębie was Fornal who blocked Boyer after the attack and the score was 19:16.

Although Shimura provided three solid points for his team, there was still a lot of emotion in the end, because thanks to Jakub Kochanowski’s ace, the score became 23:24. Patry then received the ball to attack and he did not disappoint.

The guests started the next set successfully (3-0), but soon lost all advantages. Jastrzębie’s team took the lead and won the series thanks to a series of points (11:7). The match for Resovia was not going well at all, at 11:17 Krzysztof Rejno and Michał Kędzierski appeared on the field, but neither of them could achieve anything.

The Polish champion dominated the field events until the end and did not lose the advantage he had gained. In the end, he won the fourth set with a time of 25:20, and despite his weakness, he remains unbeaten in the PlusLiga.
