In their letter, the coaches appreciate the role of the city of Zabrze (the club’s owner), and direct their complaints to the Gornik authorities. According to them, they are overlooked and the club academy is neglected.
“For years, we have been following the principle that together we should create one joint mining family, unfortunately, from time to time, the activities of the club and the people directly related to the city of Zabrze give us a completely different understanding. We hope that our message will give all interested parties the appropriate incentive to organize some matters and solve problems, which will allow us to continue working peacefully.

“Due to the online statements of representatives of the Zabrze city authorities (Mrs. Dr. Malgorzata Manka Šulik and Vice President Krzysztof Lewandowski) and the situation at the Gornik Zabrze Academy, we, as coaches of the Academy, decided to speak out publicly. For many years we have been involved in the process of training children and young people and building the Gornik Zabrze Academy Some of us have been in the club since the beginning of its resumption and we remember all the stages of its development. We remember the moment of reactivation and the problems in collecting balls for the first training sessions, the first sporting successes, two Polish championships, second place and many other local and foreign successes. The beginnings were not easy. Problems in The equipment, the training space, but also the optimism of working with children, who increasingly appear in the academy every day, pushing us to work hard and daily.
We appreciate the role and assistance of the City of Zabrze in helping us work. The annual subsidy (one of the lowest aids that major league club academies receive from cities), the replacement of the stadium in Walls and the construction of a now-defunct airship in the Mujahideen. Rataga (we are currently using the remaining pitch here) has helped us a lot in our development and training. The stadium was built on ul. Without these people, many of the things we have today would not have seen the light of day. This situation makes us happy, but it also saddens us because we ask ourselves, where would we be today without these people? Often, representatives of the academy turned to the city and the club due to everyday problems. Our requests and questions were often unanswered, and thanks to ourselves, the people who helped us, and our determination, we were able to solve problems and slowly build our academy. I have never “bragged” out loud in the media about what we have been able to achieve thanks to our commitment and the commitment of our friends, but in the face of some of the successes and development of the Academy that are attributed to us by people who have little influence and on this development we are forced to speak the truth out loud!

So far, a new director of the academy has not been appointed, which means that we do not officially have someone who should manage us, but we are also struggling with the necessary matters for further development, and the ultimate effect of this is to introduce as many of our students as possible to the first team. After leaving the Łukasz Milik Academy, Thomas Stani became the “unofficial” director. What we do not understand is the situation in which he was not officially appointed to this position. We know from the club’s leaks that his nomination is not accepted by President Dr. Małgorzata Mańka Szulik. How, according to media statements of the city authorities, one of the best universities in Poland is managed by a person without any appointment or support from the city.
Only coordinated work planned for many years, supported with the help of Górnik Zabrze SA and the City of Zabrze, can make our academy grow stronger and truly become the best in Poland. Górnik Zabrze SA, which will be the biggest beneficiary of the good work done at the Academy, has often shown a lack of assistance, but also actions that significantly hamper our daily work and development. Failure to pay tournament bonuses, and delays in payments due to the Academy (due to such actions, we often received our modest salaries late), are just a few of the allegations we mention here. For years, we have been following the principle that together we should create one mining family. Unfortunately, from time to time, the actions of the club and people directly related to the city of Zabrze give us a completely different understanding. We hope that our message will give all parties concerned a suitable incentive to settle some issues and solve problems, which will allow us to continue working peacefully.
