Two Cirque du Soleil acrobats were injured during a performance at the Grand École in Old Montreal on Friday.
According to Cirque du Soleil, two performers “fell on stage” during the aerial frame performance of the Ethiopian troupe of the “Echo” show. They would have bumped into the air during the performance.

The injured artists are part of the Ethiopian ‘Echo’ performance group, which can be seen in this photo.
They were both taken to the hospital by ambulance.
“We treated two Cirque du Soleil employees for minor injuries. We don’t fear for their lives,” said René Durand, a spokesman for Health Emergencies.
One of the two was transported only as a precaution, the spokesman said.
“Everyone was in shock”
Michel Gauthier, who attended the show with his wife, said the accident happened when other performers threw acrobats from the floor into the air.
“They had to trade sideways to pass each other. But both stuck in the air. They fell to the ground very badly”, testified Mr. Gauthier.
“Everyone was in shock. There is also someone who was sick [après avoir vu l’accident]”, adds the dentist, who had come to watch the show with his wife and a couple of friends.
“As a precaution in accordance with our emergency protocols, the show was halted to allow the show’s emergency crew to safely deal with the performers backstage, where they immediately took over,” said promoter Martin LaForce on behalf of Cirque du Soleil. .
The rest of the show was canceled after the two injured were transported.
“As always in the event of an accident, performers will be followed up regularly by the ECHO medical team to determine when they can resume their activities,” Ms LaForce added.
