9 Polish universities on the list of Shanghai.  Check out where to study

9 Polish universities are included in the ranking of the best universities in the world, popularly known as the Shanghai List. The Jagiellonian University and the University of Warsaw have the highest scores – we read on Twitter from the Ministry of Education and Science.

The message posted on MEiN reads so The highest ranked Polish universities in the Shanghai ranking We are: Jagiellonian University I Warsaw Universitywhich are rated between 401-500.

The arrivals were in the range 801-900. The ranking also includes: AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow (801-900 places), Medical University in Piastów Śląskich in Wroclaw (801-900 places), Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań (901-1000), and Gdańsk University of Technology (901-1000). ), Warsaw Medical University (901-1000), Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń (901-1000) and Warsaw University of Technology (places 901-1000).

Universities from the United States dominated the Shanghai ranking. There are eight of them in the top ten. Harvard University has been named the best university in the world. Also on the podium were Stanford University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

In turn, the rating of the best universities in Europe is opened by the British University of Cambridge (4th place). These, along with the University of Oxford (7th place), are two universities from outside the US that are ranked at the top of the Shanghai list.

Shanghai list

The ranking of the best universities in the world (Academic Ranking of World Universities, ARWU), commonly known as the Shanghai List, is compiled by Shanghai Jiao Tong University. It was first published in 2003. More than 2,500 universities are evaluated each year.

The exact place in the ranking is known only to the 100 best universities in the world. The remaining places are mentioned almost completely – universities appear in groups of 50 or 100 institutions.

The ranking is prepared on the basis of several criteria. The indicators assessed include, among others: the number of alumni (and staff separately) who have been awarded the Nobel Prize or the Fields Medal, the number of publications in ‘nature’ or ‘science’ journals, the number of highly cited researchers, the number of publications which are included in selected citation indexes (Science Citation Index – Expanded Social Science Citation Index).
