Star Wars: Carrie Fisher’s posthumous star reveals her family’s dark side

Actress Carrie Fisher, who played Princess Leia in the “Star Wars” saga, received a posthumous star on Thursday during a ceremony in Los Angeles following a family dispute.

The actress, who died of a heart attack in 2016, was honored on the famous Hollywood Boulevard “Walk of Fame” by her daughter Billie Lourd on May 4. The day has established itself over the years in the United States as “Star Wars Day,” celebrated by fans of the franchise created by George Lucas.

If the actress’ daughter wore a dress bearing the image of Princess Leia, other members of the family were noticed by their absence: Carrie Fisher’s brother Todd and her half-sisters-Jolie and Tricia Lee were not invited. .

“It hurts to be left out of this special day,” Todd Fisher told gossip site TMZ.

The sisters condemned the “deeply shocking” omission on Instagram.

A decision rightly accepted by Billie Lourd. “We had no relationship,” Carrie Fisher’s daughter told The Hollywood Reporter, accusing the actress’ siblings of profiting from her mother’s death by pulling books and giving numerous interviews.

“The truth about my mother’s very complicated relationship with her family is only known to me and to those who were really close to her,” he added.

The campaign to give Carrie Fisher a star has been going on for years: fans complained that her male counterparts Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker in Saga) and Harrison Ford (Han Solo) won their awards for a long time on Hollywood Boulevard.

The “Our Princess, Damn It” actress said Mr Hamill paid tribute to his “beloved space duo” at the ceremony on Thursday, the robots R2-D2 and C3PO, made famous by the intergalactic soap opera.

Carrie Fisher, who made her screen debut as a teenager in Hal Ashby’s 1975 satire “Shampoo,” went on to play Leia in six films, starting with “Star Wars” (1977).

He appeared posthumously in “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” (2019).

The actress joins more than 2,000 other big names in film, television and music who have starred along the sidewalks of Hollywood Boulevard and surrounding streets.
