The richest man in the world…and getting richer

The wealth of Frenchman Bernard Arnold, the world’s richest man, rose $12 billion to $210 billion on Thursday.

On the day of the announcement, according to the “New York Post,” French demonstrators tried to approach his office in protest. Bernard Arnold, 74, was targeted because President Emmanuel Macron recently sought to push the retirement age from 62 to 64 to ensure the stability of the pension system.

However, protesters are demanding that millionaires pay more.

Bernard Arnold, the CEO and chairman of LVMH, now surpasses Elon Musk, the world’s second richest man, by nearly $30 billion. According to Bloomberg, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is the third richest person in the world with $126 billion.

Arnault’s latest wealth boost came as LVMH’s shares hit a record high in Paris on Thursday. The company attributed the increase in sales to the reopening of China’s economy for the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic. LVMH-owned brands include Tiffany & Co., Christian Dior, Fendi and Louis Vuitton.
