Scientists have re-examined the properties of the eccentric HD 76920b planetary system through a detailed seismic analysis of its parent star, HD 76920.

Using stellar modeling by five individual international teams, scientists have determined improved measurements of the star’s mass, radius, and age, and updated the quasi-major planet’s axis and mass.
With updated characteristics of the planetary system, they have confirmed that the planet is now far enough from the star to experience minor tidal breakup until it is swallowed up by the interstellar envelope. They predicted this event to occur in about 100 million years, depending on the stellar model used.
