As TMZ reported, she came down with a “bad cough” before going on vacation. Once in Mexico, he went to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with pneumonia, and doctors kept him overnight. The 73-year-old actor was discharged the next day after responding well to antibiotic treatment.

After the announcement of his ill health, his wife took to Instagram to give a reassurance. “I woke up this morning and saw the news and your kind and (concerned) messages. He is on the mend,” she wrote in the caption of her message posted on Sunday.

She continued: “He’s feeling so good today! The worst is behind him! Thank you all for (your) kind messages, we really appreciate them!

Her words were accompanied by a masked photo of Richard Gere and one of their children.

Last week, Alejandra Silva celebrated her 40th birthday, posting on Instagram: “Today after almost three weeks of being sick in our family, I finally feel better! Thank you for all your love.”
