When the actress next stars as Cleopatra in Asterix and Obelix: The Middle Empire, directed by her husband Guillaume Canet, she told Daily Set that her kids didn’t appreciate her performance!

Marcel, son with Guillaume Canet, now 11, stars in the film. Their five-year-old daughter Louise also got to see the film at the preview, and the reaction wasn’t necessarily what Marion Cotillard was hoping for.

“I’ve always had a hard time talking about my kids, but one day my son came to see me in my office and said ‘I want to tell you something…’. So he said to me ‘I want to tell you something but I think it’s going to hurt you. Afraid” and I told him “But my cat, you can tell me everything”. And he tells me “I don’t think you look good in Dad’s picture”. “Somehow I’m a bit relieved because I told him, ‘It’s your opinion, no problem,'” she continues.

But Marion Cotillard is not at the end of her troubles. “I find myself in the evening with my daughter, and I understand that she has also seen the film, and I don’t know why I ask her this question: “You, Cleopatra?” And she does (mimes a mask). And then I understand … I think … They couldn’t stand me kissing Vincent Cassel on the mouth,” she continues.

Marion Cotillard’s kids don’t have to watch The Dark Knight Rises anymore…
