The English Premier League Cup is slowly entering its crucial phase. On Tuesday, the first quarter-final matches took place between Manchester United and Charlton W Newcastle United From Leicester City.

In theory, the easiest task was Manchester United, who were in great shape (a series Seven consecutive wins), which was faced by a team from the first league (the third division). On the other hand, Charlton achieved a very big surprise in the previous round by eliminating Premier League players Brighton (0-0, 4-3 on penalties).
In this meeting, United confirmed the good form of recent weeks. They were leading 1: 0 until the end of the first half, in the 21st minute Anthony gave an accurate shot from outside the penalty area. Coach Erik ten Haga’s side continued to dominate the game after the break, and Marcus Rashford made it 2-0 in the 90th minute. It was their eighth in a row. Game Wayne Rooney scored a goal at Old Trafford. And the 25-year-old Englishman didn’t stop there and in the 94th minute scored to make it 3-0.
Newcastle United and Leicester City, third and thirteenth in the Premier League, competed in Tuesday’s second quarter-final. Newcastle had the upper hand in the first half but failed to score. This was done in the 60th minute, when Dan Byrne scored a shot from several meters away – his first goal for the club he was playing for since January 2022. In the 72nd minute, Joelinton made it 2-0.
