“This is how it should have been from the start!” – I thought, watching with a flushed face the successive stunts that Travis Pastrana performed behind the wheel of an 874-horsepower Subaru GL wagon. The Gymkhana 2022 event is taking place in Florida, so it’s only natural that it should be kept in a holiday mood. However, this talented motorcyclist and rally driver quickly forgoes sunbathing on the beach to do what he does best – acrobatic displays and stunt slides.
Idyll on the beach? In any case!
With previous versions of Gymkhana – whether with Ken Block or Travis Pastrana – Hoonigan set the bar really high. So the high expectations for this year’s clip are justified. Gymkhana 2022 is better than Electrikhana?
The car Travis Pastrana drives at Gymkhana 2022 is a heavily modified Subaru GL Wagon with a 2.3-liter turbocharged engine. However, the engine is not the most interesting in it. Auto Pastrany has a body made of carbon fiber, a “armor” that protects the chassis during tricks straight from the world of skaters (it’s no coincidence!) And a supercar-like gift – an active aerodynamic package. Subaru in the section bravely endures harsh treatment by the driver.

In Electrikhanie, in theory, everything is “correct” – there were amazing slides, Ken Block and Las Vegas lighting. There was even a great machine, for which Audi engineers deserve great respect. However, it was hard for me to feel excited while watching this production. Maybe it’s that piercing whistle of the electric motors, or maybe it’s just the lack of roaring exhaust. I got real feelings only when I saw the old diesel version of Gymkhana. Do you have this too?
