In an interview with The Times US published on Saturday (November 25), the Enola Homes star lamented that ‘cancellation culture’ has affected her children’s godfather, Johnny Depp.

“I hate cancellation culture. It’s become fanatical and there’s a kind of witch hunt and lack of understanding. The problem with these things is this: People are going to jump on the bandwagon because it’s the trend and it’s supposed to be the leader,” he said.

The actress used the defamation case between Johnny Depp and ex-wife Amber Heard earlier this year as an example, accusing Amber Heard of riding the ‘pendulum’ and saying ‘Metoo’s pendulum (must go again)’.

Despite the rhetoric surrounding the six-week trial, Helena Bonham Carter explained that she believes Johnny Depp was “absolutely exonerated” by the court’s verdict — which awarded him $10 million in damages and $5 million in restitution.

“I think she’s fine now,” the actress summed up. “Absolutely fine.”

Since posting an article containing transphobic comments, J.K. He talked about the backlash Rowling received. “That’s terrible, a bunch of donkeys. I think he was molested, Helena Bonham Carter added. It was pushed to the extremes of people’s judgment.

J.K. Helena Bonham Carter played Bellatrix Lestrange in the film adaptations of Rowling’s Harry Potter book series.
