As explained by the daily “La Vanguardia”, the interventions of the police have usually consisted in the liquidation of illegal events organized mainly around the beach in Magaluf, as well as several other locations in the municipality of Calvia there.
The local police confirmed that they used force to remove drunk and hostile tourists from public places. The operation was carried out with the support of the gendarmerie units.
According to the Balearic Police, the tourists who resisted were mostly citizens of Great Britain and France.
